1. Why did my points reset to 0?

texi offers users a chance to enter new contests every month for a chance to win great prizes. Users begin collecting points on the first day of each month until 11:59 p.m. on the final day of the same month. At 11:59 p.m. on the final day of the month, points are tabulated and the names of winners are drawn for each of the four prizing categories. The points are then reset for fresh new contests that begin again on the first day of the next month.

2. How do I know texi is on and collecting points?

When a user taps on the app’s on/off toggle located on the home screen, the circle at the centre of the toggle shifts to the right indicating the app is on. In addition, the texi animated character jumps up and down indicating the app has been activated and is collecting points.

3. How do I find out who won the prizes at the end of each month?

A random draw takes place at 11:59 p.m. on the final day of the month. 10 user names are pulled and those users are contacted the following day with a mathematical question. Once a user responds to the question with the correct answer, she/he receives a release form confirming that their name was drawn. When the release form is returned with the user signature and date, the user is declared the winner. Names of all winners are posted in the “Winners” section of the texi microsite, www.texiapp.ca. Three attempts are made to contact each user. If all three attempts go unanswered, a new user name will be randomly drawn for that prizing category.

4. Can I lock my device while texi is on?

No, a device cannot be locked because texi needs to be on and unlocked in order to collect points.

5. While texi is running, can I switch to the device home screen without losing points?

No. texi has to run in the forefront to reward users for not touching their device. Switching to the home screen while texi is running means you are using your device. texi gives users points for not touching the screen of their device while they are driving. Therefore, users who switch to their home screen while texi is activated lose their points.

6. Can I touch my phone while texi is on without losing points?

texi is a safe driving app. The app is designed to motivate Canadian drivers to focus on the road rather than text and drive. Once texi is turned on, users lose their points if they touch the screen of their phone. Doing so will result in the loss of any points collected for that particular session.

7. Can I run other apps while using texi?

Yes. Users can run other apps while texi is activated as long as those apps are turned on before a user initiates texi. However, if a user switches from texi to another app during an active session you will lose your point.

8. Does the iOS version send out auto-responses and memes?

At this time, the ability to send out auto responses and memes is only available on Android devices. We worked on creating an iOS version of texi that respects and adheres to Apple’s rules and regulations. The primary incentive for texi users is the opportunity to win prizes, offered on both Android and iOS.

9. How do I accumulate points?

texi users accumulate points for every minute they drive while the app is activated. Users can also earn points for sharing the app on social media and writing a review. The meme function offers an added dimension to the app that makes it fun to use. Points are not awarded for memes sent on a driver’s behalf.

10. Do I get points for the memes texi sends on my behalf while I’m driving?

Memes are a great way to tell friends that you are driving and cannot respond but they don’t give you additional points. texi’s point system is based on every minute a user drives without touching their phone.

11. What can I do to conserve my battery while using texi?

texi is designed to dim the screen while it is activated to conserve battery life. As is the case with any smartphone, it is also recommended that users hook their device to a power source when they get into their vehicle and before they turn on the app. This will ensure the battery remains charged while you use texi. Finally, you can adjust the brightness setting on your device prior to activating texi.

12. Can I answer calls through Bluetooth while texi is activated?

If your phone is paired with your vehicle you can use your steering wheel controls to operate your phone without deactivating texi and losing points.

13. What happens if I use my phone while texi is on?

If a user uses the phone while texi is activated, the points the user collected for that session will be wiped out. Users will still retain the points they earned prior to that session.
